I lost about $60 of skating coupons.

Free CTA and some loose change

I found 50 cents on the street yesterday.  Every little bit counts, right.

But on a more significant note I have been taking the bus from the train station due to the fabulous weather we have been enjoying here in the Windy City.  This morning it was so crowded I didn't get to pay and tonight I decided to walk since the temperature may have been in the double digits, there was no wind and no snow (for at least that ten minutes).  So all in all that's another $4.50.

Justice has been had ! ! !

My husband got a parking ticket back in October.  The meter was broken and we all told him not to worry- he wouldn't get ticketed when he got back to the car.  Well lo and behold many hours later (long after the meter would have expired) he returned to the car which now had a ticket on it.

Now I have a pretty good track record defending these tickets (something close to 100%) but this one was his.  He went to 'court' this morning and came out victorious ! ! !  - ticket dismissed due to broken meter.

I count this as a $50.00 win- - but honestly it will only defry the costs of the two moving violations he received on New Years day.

Free Money

I signed up for one of those on-line survey websites awhile back.  I was sceptical so didn't fill a lot of them out.  You are supposed to get cash after you have accumulated points but even on the site they talk about it taking a long time to get the money.  So I answered a few but ignored many emails.

Well a little over a week ago I had enough points to redeem and was presently surprised to get a check for $6.00 in the mail the other day ! ! !  Of course now the survey requests haven't been coming as often as they have in the past- - but I will certainly do them from now on.

The particular company was opinon outpost.  I would also recommend MYpoints (which provided me with a $50 gift card that I used as a gift this holiday season).  On the same note I would NOT recommend erewards - - no good rewards to be had.

Ughhhh ! ! !

Don't you hate when you open up a bill and it is more than you expect? ? Well that happened yesterday with Kohl's. I pay it off every month, wrote down the whole amount in Quicken and in my check book but for some reason on on-line bill pay only paid around half. I remedied it today but whether or not they waive the finance charge is questionable. Keep your fingers crossed.

On a happier note I found the missing $25.00 gift card today.

And the $624+ dollar bill for routine bloodwork is being resubmitted to insurance. I added up the costs they billed for a physical and it wa over $1000.00. That doesn't sound like industry standard to me.

Free Parking

We went down to China Town for Dim Sum this afternoon and found a place to park on the street as opposed to paying $8.00 for the lot.  So that's good.

Then we took the girls to redeem their Christmas gift cards and I LOST a $25.00 gift card that was given to one of them.  So of course I let her spend $25.00 anyway.  And because the 5 year old picked out the merchandise it was $25.00 of junk.  So that's bad.

So the total for today is $17.00 in the red.
